Walking through Hoboken on our way to an event honoring the Port Authority police officers that were killed in the September 11th tragedy, I noticed my shoelace was untied. As I sat down to tie it, Dave became inpatient and ran up ahead, approaching what seemed like a media van. What happened after that was phenomenal. Speaking with the driver of the van, Dave quickly learned that he was with Telemundo, Channel 47, the Spanish TV Network. The driver, a cameraman, offered the name of the entertainment reporter, Odalys Molina. David called the station and left a voice mail about MJ. |

Just seconds before the interview commenced,
David reminded the reporter that if she spoke her questions SLOWLY, she
would receive an awesome interview from MJ .In the studio, the robotic
cameras, which were operated by remote control, were "chasing"
David. He noticed that there were no cameramen but did not expect the
cameras to suddenly start moving on the studio floors when he was right
next to them! "Hello, wake up.... run!!! (David has a great deal
of Television production experience as well. He
has produced all of MJ';s music videos.)

| Odalys called back the next day & David spoke with her, explaining what it is that MJ Medina do. Needless to say, she was very interested in interviewing them. Today, at 11:30 am, MJ Medina were interviewed live. Now, what makes this so special? It was their first interview completely in Spanish. Manny and Joy Medina, otherwise known as MJ Medina, are a Spanish and English singing brother and sister duo from Hoboken New Jersey, (across the river from the Empire State Building). Manny and Joy have been speaking Spanish since they were little, however, they were caught slightly off guard by Ms. Molina because she spoke very quickly. There was quite a bit that went on before the interview itself. All of last night, GG (Manny and Joys mother) was coaching them in Spanish in order to make this interview a successful one. This morning before the interview, Joy was not feeling very well. She had been rehearsing for the concerts |
and for her lead role in a production of "Footloose" at her middle school, (the same school "Frank Sinatra" attended). Then, on our way to the TV station, we forgot theTV performance track to Para El Juego. David was asked by the reporter to have MJ ready to perform 2 songs. (Brave New American Heroes & Para El Juego.) That changed. We made a quick "U-turn", went back to get the"CD track mix" and arrived in time anyway |
"MJ's up in 10, 9, 8, 7..." The
interview began, The reporter got very excited and immediatelyraced through
her questions. MJ did their best. They got through their interview, but
they felt a little embarrassed because she spoke sooo fast. MJ were still
happy that they did it.
After the interview when we returned to the studio,
agents from the "Rebel" organization that helps to educate
people about the dangers of smoking, spoke with David and considered
booking MJ on April 20th, 2002, to perform at their annual "Summit"
meeting for the state of NJ! Cool! One of them saw MJ at the Smart-T
Jamboree last May. (This was the first HUGE arena concert that I attended
Go MJ! |
